Yea find it on the album Swizz Beatz presents Ghetto Stories! Dont know if that video was a promo for a single release (I dont know cos it definitely didnt come out in the UK) but there’s some crappy adlibbing that’s thankfully abscent on the original record also. Was it a single then?

Whoa. Funny story, that sample bleed is exactly what I was talking about. I first heard this song in my friend’s old beater Honda in 02, and thought it was brilliant, but didn’t know who it was. I remember thinking “man, some day I am going to ask him about that song and buy it”, but I forgot.

Then not too long ago, I came across the song again. And here is this wonky-ass sample bleedover in there – exactly like Swizz leaned on the pad or spilled coffee on the MPC (haha!) – and I was like “man, how tasteless and unsophisticated I was to think this was a good beat. If dude had just not pushed that button one extra time, this would be great”.

So what you’re telling me is that there’s an older version which is superior, then. This is news to me, thank you. It is also good because if what you are saying is true, my image of myself as the coolest kid in school in ’02 might just remain intact.

Care to point me to the real one?

Yea Good times was one of my most played in 2002, but the raps still weak for me. The Ghetto Stories version had a tighter beat than the one in the video – it seems in the video version the “high on your memory” part of the sample has been chucked into the chorus and sounds dischordant and totally out of place – like Swizz leant on a pad by mistake or spilt coffee on the MP. Anyway what the fuck am I talking about. Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks for the love thus far on the episode everyone. Talat - 75 versions, literally? I know that they went back and had Timbo redo the drums, but I wasn't aware that there were any more. And I gotta say that Neptunes' version > Ye's. leen - I don't think there's any more remixes of that neptunes + daft track. what, are you a producer now? are you going to make one? Iain - the beat is hard. And come on, Good Times was pretty good. But then again, that was mainly the beat, and there's actually a thing or two about that beat that always bugged me. The video for it is terrible, though: Styles P - Good Times. That blacklight stuff is just scary.

Wasn’t feelin the Neptunes rmx, liked Ye’s better. The Justice rmx is dope as promised. Styles p reminds me, you should throw out his fav drug pt2 joint. Love that one and it would fit beautifully in your “stoner collection”..also, Doom- deep fried friends, Air [er pretty much anything from Doom]. Don’t member if you’ve ever had that one on before.
