Hey, search motherfuckers! I know a lot of you have one of those DVD player things, and I know some of you also like to look at moving pictures and listen to sounds. So, when Lucy at Elemental told me about these two new DVDs from TimeOut Magazine, I figured I’d holler at her about giving some away to the community here on the site.

Here’s the two cities I have available, with a snippet and some info:

Los Angeles – DVD by Peanut Butter Wolf (featuring hella music videos at the end)
CD mixed by Madlib (featuring Quasimoto, Jaylib, Sun Ra Arkestra, Freestyle Fellowship, and damn a lot of stuff)

Suddenly I want to stay at the Viceroy.

Berlin, Germany
DVD and CD by Ellen Allien (featuring Plastikman, Miss Kittin, Ellen herself, and a German version of David Bowie’s “Heroes”)
Obviously this isn’t hip-hop at all, but come on. dex digital? you know I fucks with the techno. I also have to say that the Quarks – Königin joint I am feeling hard.

This is so euro-hip it’s not even funny.

So basically what you’re getting in this giveaway is a sort of multimedia travel guide. Each 2-disc pack has a DVD and a CD, which basically introduce you to the sights and sounds of their respective cities. I think you’re supposed to, like, watch this before you go on your extravagant trip to said locale, but I’m pretty sure you could just put it in your DVD player, watch it, listen to the rappidy-raps (or in the case of the Berlin joint, the bleepy techno) and pretend like you’re there.

Note – some people have reported having trouble with the phone lines, so the giveaway rules now are a little easier – just send an email (see below).

So here’s how to get your own copy.

1. Send me an email – kucrdex@gmail.com (or use the contact form).
2. In the contents, tell me your favorite spot in your favorite city (could be any spot, in any city, for whatever reason (see white females above for inspiration))
3. Tell me which version (Berlin or Los Angeles) you want.

And that’s it. I only have 3 of these to give out, total. So if you want one, you should probably handle that now.

MIXTAPE EPISODE 31

Two main concepts this week: One, viagra 40mg we’ve got a remix contest from Rebel’s Advocate kicking off this week. Here’s what you do – remix their acapella to Bite (download the mp3 by right-clicking

), more about and remix that shit. If you win, this your official remix will be pressed up on their globally-distributed 12″ (slated for a Spring 06 release), and you’ll win an iPod fucking Nano. Hot shit. If you want more info, listen to the show for more details, or read further.

Next concept: education. Way too many of y’all little rap kids running stupid. I put together this episode to hopefully teach you some things – about the industry, about working on your craft and persisting, and about rap history in general. So pay attention.

Craig Rip f/ Matic - Where do we go from here. Getting spacy on y’all real quick. Matic with the kinda esoteric lyrics, and Craig Rip laying out them tracks. Am I allowed to say Van City? Am I the first to do that? I’m sorry if I offended anyone from Vancouver. Dope track. And also, sampling Quas = win. mumbleshiphop.com. Read on for more…

John Robinson – Indy 102. Hopefully this is not a new name to you. Met up with JR back over summer at some thing or other, and he recently got at me with a couple of packages – Beatology vols 1 and 2, and his The Leak Edition, Vol.1. This joint right here though should help you get your business game up, which is important since there are way too many people out there trying to take you for your shit. Listen to this a couple times. shamanworks.com.

I think especially important on here is how early he stresses the website thing – sure, a myspace is a good start, but what’s important is that you step your online game up, or you’re gonna get left behind. Speaking of which, if you’re interested in sponsoring the show, holler…

Rebels Advocate – Bite. You’ve heard them here before, now hear them again. This is from that same EP that caught me the first time. Basically it’s a 5-minute joint over damn near every classic hip-hop joint you can think of – like 15-30 second snippets of each joint. Pretty crazy hearing dude spit over drastically different beats and keeping it cohesive. All you producers, this is the song that you’ll be remixing for the grand prize of vinyl pressing and the iPod nano – so listen up, and check the end for details.

Specifics – Take me back. I’m sure there’s some life lesson to be learned here. Not sure what it is, but it’s probably there. Specifics have been supporters of the show since mad early on. And obviously since they’ve gotten so much play on the show, I’m definitely a fan of the sounds. Check the beat and the laid-back flow on this one…ill. Keep them coming…mumbleshiphop.com.

Milk Crate – What’s the deal f/ Muneshine. Had to drop this piano-and-bass laced beat up there in the end on some classic type shit. And come on, references to the Jeffersons and Prince in the same song? It’s a wrap. Basically just a dope way to close out the show. mumbleshiphop.com.

Aight, that’s this week’s show. I actually had a couple more joints I wanted to try to fit in here, but looks like we’ll have to wait for next week.

[oh - sidebar. I still have a couple of those Propane Piff mixtapes left - you want one? comment here and let me know, I'll hit you on the email if I decide to...]

Yeah – the info on the official Rebels Advocate Remix contest, cosigned by yours fucking truly. Copied from their website, here’s what the winner gets:

2. Apple I-Pod Nano
3. Deluxe Rebels Advocate Promo Package (t-shirts, posters, cds, ect)

. Note: the tempo is 100bpm. And of course, you can feel free to send me remixes, but I’m not the official judge, so make sure you’re hitting them up at details@latenightpromotions.com to do things proper.

That’s it for this week – get on them decks, kids, and start producing! All you fans stay in tune, and all y’all entrepreneurs stay in tune with me too…if you’re trying to make something happen on a promo tip like this, get at your boy boyyyyyyyeeeeeeee. next week, yall. peace.

MIXTAPE EPISODE 30

This show concept for this week’s rap podcast basically came up when Ike Eyes sent me a copy of the Propane Piff mixtape. Trust me, disorder when you hear Ag shouting over the top of some old crack era S.O.S. band shit, you know you’re in for an experience. If you’re interested in scoring your own free copy, read the full post for details. Not only that, though, but there’s a freestyle from my man Respect up in here, as well as an old Smoke and Numbers joint that y’all prolly ain’t heard, either. Start the track and follow along…

Agallah - Whoop Ya Head f/ 50 Cent. Yes, the almighty Fiddy shows up on this joint, which makes sense if you know your history. Don’t hate. If anyone somehow forgot that despite the Top 40 shit, 50 actually has bars, you’re about to get reminded.

Agallah - So High (prod. Sid Roams). Instant fucking classic right here. I don’t know much about this Roams cat but this is a dope cut. Check this one out.

Agallah - Thanks to Me feat Camron, Sin Sizzerb. More of that piano-type shit. I’m not sure why it is that the less angry your production is, the more gangster your shit sounds, but this is an example of that phenomenon. Cam definitely has a presence in his section, and Ag rips his up.

Agallah - Don Bishop f/ Jay Z (prod Agallah). Hey, if Swizz can do it, so can he. Okay, so it’s only Jay on the hook, but the old blaxploitation movie soundtrack feel is hot, as is the flow. Again, there’s about 10 other joints I could have put on here, but you’re gonna have to get your own copy to hear them.

The mixtape can be purchased here.

Numbers (of Smoke & Numbers) – Smile. We had a solo joint from Smoke a while back, so we gotta give Numbers his chance to shine on this one. I’ve had the Color of Money mixtape for a minute now and I’d almost forgotten that I meant to drop this one on y’all. You can pick up their latest mixtape (that I know of) at mixunit.

Respect - Yesturday (freestyle) with Paradox and Dy-verze. Nice freestyle from my man Respect (the God). This is another one I’ve been meaning to drop for a while now. Respect – you got any more joints you wanna shoot to me, holler… Check him out at myspace.com/respectthagod.

So that’s it for Episode 30. I know a lot of y’all are trying to figure out how to pick up your own copy, so here’s the rundown in bullet points because I know a lot of you are slow.

How to get a free copy of Propane Piff mailed to you

Details/ Non-Small Print:

1. I have a limited (!!) number of mixtapes to give out.
2. I am sending them for free. I am paying for postage.
3. I am making the choice as to who gets a mixtape and who doesn’t. Everyone has an equal chance, unless I arbitrarily decide that I don’t like you, then you don’t have any chance at all.
4. I’m not necessarily opposed to mailing outside the U.S., but if you’re outside the lower 48, it might be a bit tougher for you.

You have a few options as for entering:

1. Call the mixtape hotline: (310) 928 MTSN, and leave a message telling me why you want a copy. Leave your number or email, and I’ll contact you if I chose you and get your mailing address then.
2. Email me (see my email address in the contact info section) and do the same.

Ways to improve your chances:

1. If you’re leaving a message, make it interesting. Freestyle, do something non-boring because I’ll delete your shit like I deleted those 30 fake emails from that one promoter pretending to be 30 different fans of some terrible rapper. I see you, son, and your shit don’t work. So stop.

2. Promote the show. This doesn’t mean spamming people, this means post up on a message board somewhere where people would be interested in the show, tell your friends, etc. If you want to shoot me a link where you’ve linked up the show, that might be a good thing for you to do. I’m just saying.

There, that’s what it is. I’m tired, so that’s it for today. Oh yeah – did you hear me mention that there’s a contest next week for producers – one that might get you on wax? I did, and there is. Check us out next week.
