MIXTAPE EPISODE 55 feat BARTHOLOMEW JAMES

MIXTAPE EPISODE 55 feat BARTHOLOMEW JAMES

This week, capsule I (dex digital) take a break and Bartholomew James of the Quiet Storm on KPLT 92.7FM makes his hip-hop podcast debut.

Dem Franchize Boyz – Lean Wit It (Don Vito remix). Yes, seek you know this song, and yes, it’s a simple remix. But that won’t stop you from playing it out. majormoneyentertainment.com.

DK – Mask On. Apparently Bartholomew got a little confused, because this isn’t Luther, this is one of the strongest players in the East Coast mixtape game, DK. If you don’t listen to the words, you might actually miss what’s going on. myspace.com/dk730

Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys – Get Low (Ghosteo Remix). Another ridiculously simple remix, but I mean come on. Between the Sheets + anything = instant classic. I’m not sure where this “Gap Band” nonsense came from, but I can see why Bartholomew James would pick this cut out. myspace.com/ghosteo.

E-40 and Keak da Sneak – Tell Me When To Go (Trackademics remix). It’s hard to match the original, but if any of the myriad remixes that came out are close, this one’s right up there with them. myspace.com/trackademics.

Gwen Stefani, 4-Ize and Ludacris – Payback. Aaaaaand there goes our credibility. I’m actually not sure why Bartholomew played this one, considering that he didn’t even like it and he swore to me beforehand that he wouldn’t put any white people on the show. On the other hand, y’all know my weird tastes in music, so it’s not that I mind it going in here. 4-Ize has been a little slow with releases recently, maybe he’s working on something nowadays…soularsausage.com.

outro track: MR. MAKK – which is Kenny Keys’ band – Phrase 72. I had this one sitting on my desk, I’m guessing that ol’ BJ picked it up and took a fancy to it. myspace.com/kennykeys.

Well, I’d like to thank everyone for putting up with Bartholomew James this week – assuming I get over my cold and get my shit together in time, I should be back next week with a normal episode. Mr. James asked if you all could holler at him with some comments though, so if y’all feel like it, feel free to drop some here.

MIXTAPE EPISODE 48 – EULORHYTHMICS INTERVIEW

MIXTAPE EPISODE 48 – EULORHYTHMICS INTERVIEW

Shit y’all, about it I’m sorry. I know I’m late with this one, infertility but I have a good reason – I’m in motherfucking Guangdong, China right now. Shit is serious out here.

Anyway, this week we have what is right up there with the last one as one of my favorite interviews ever on this site. MC Adad of Eulorhythmics and yours truly chop it up on the group’s humble origins in Chicago, their weird-ass overseas deal, the mystery behind “Haterville” as described by Mixtape Show alum Longshot, and other shit.

If you’ve been listening to the show recently, you know that I have been steady pushing Eulo’s debut joint, and this exclusive-ass interview will give you some insight on the men behind the music. And as usual, extra super exclusive-ass beats from Kenny Keys, the production mastermind in the duo. Even if you don’t understand English, just listen to the pretty music behind us dudes talking. Holler in the comments and let me (and them) know how you feel it.

EPISODE 42 – SUMMER MIXTAPE

EPISODE 42 – SUMMER MIXTAPE

That’s right. When you run as dope a show as mine is, syphilis you get to redeclare summer, visit this site and nobody bats a motherfucking eye.

This episode, migraine as you probably noticed, is the Summer Mixtape – yet another concept episode. Basically the concept here is a typical summer day – I won’t get all nostalgic about summers spent during my middle school years – you know, ice cream, running through sprinklers, and coke binges, you get the idea. One day, one mixtape. Here we go.

4:35 AM: Eulorhythmics – Good Life (Intro). Yeah, I probably coulda put this one at the end, but damn, it’s such a dope intro that I had to switch it up. This is the joint you wake up to, before the sun wakes up. This is off their EP, which, incidentally, is probably up there with the best shit I’ve heard this month. Highly recommended, and there should be an interview with one of the members of Eulo fairly soon – watch out for that. allnatural.com.

MIXTAPE EPISODE 37

MIXTAPE EPISODE 37

I don’t think I need to say much about this episode. Happy mothers day to all of you, ask and hopefully at least one or two of you out there become mothers while listening to this episode.
Intro beat – Hold It Sucka by Alf-Alpha. Hot joint. Be on the lookout for more of his material on the upcoming beattape episode. You can hear the full version of this beat on his myspace.People Under The Stairs – Pass the 40. Off their new album, Stepfather. I slept on this record when it came in for a good week and a half, until the dude John told me to actually listen to it. The whole album is full of good tracks (add this to your pool party soundtrack, trust me), but in the end I just had to go with this one, if for no other reason than because there’s a sample of a kid asking to get a swig of the Mickey’s. Check them out at putsonline.co.uk.

PUTS fans take notice – we’ll be having an exclusive (exclusive! newshit newshit newshit) interview with Thes One of People Under the Stairs next week. Any questions you want asked, feel free to get at me with them in the comments section.
